University of Newcastle is a multi-campus University located on the NSW Central Coast with an enrolment of over 37,000 students.

Future Food partnered with UoN to help establish a future focussed food and hospitality strategy for their Callaghan (Main) Campus and the City campus (NUspace and Q Building) that aligned to University’s strategic plan.

Typical of many Universities in the post-COVID landscape, UoN were struggling to bring students back to campus, negatively impacting on the commerciality of retail and detracting from the on-campus experience.

Future Food’s ability to identify modern solution-based outcomes and align them to the core University cohorts ensured that the strategy delivered was considered against the customer need states on campus.

The focus of this consultancy was to assess current F&B/retail provision against best standards, determine future mix considerations and then identify opportunities and strategy initiatives that combine with a new F&B proposition to deliver holistic experiences for all campus users.

Key Success Measures

This project has been placed on a temporary hold due to delays in capital funding, however a short-term food truck solution has been rolled out to deliver a abbreviated version of the strategy.
